1. CRANBOURNE BOTANICAL GARDENS VISIT
When: Sunday, 18th February at 11 am. Where: Cranbourne Botanical Gardens, Ballarto Rd, off South Gippsland Hwy, 2km, from the Cranbourne Junction. Mel: 133 F9.
Enjoy the wonderful vistas and new sections that have been opened – the ambiance of the area, the flora and the amazing planting designs. A magnificent place to visit. Bring lunch to share, a hat and appropriate clothing for the day.
2. NOBELIUS WORKING IN THE GARDENS
When: Sunday, 25th February from 9.30 am to 2 pm. Where: Nobelius Heritage Park, Crighton Road, Emerald, under the Packing Shed, Along the Puffing Billy Line.
For those who might have an hour or two to come and help Working in the Garden during the week. The gardens need maintaining and we need your help to keep them flowering and looking good for all who walk through. If you can spare an hour or two, it would really be appreciated – many hands make light work etc. A chance for you to identify those Salvias in your garden and take home lots of cutting material. Tea/coffee will be provided.
Bring a plate to share for lunch. Bring a hat, water, a chair, gloves and whatever tools you wish to use and of course a large plastic bag for those cuttings. Please see the map for directions. Phone Lyndi 98034534 if coming. All welcome.
3. FERNY CREEK HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY’S ANNUAL PLANT COLLECTORS’ SALE AND GARDEN EXPO
When: Saturday, 11th March & Sunday, 12th March from 10 am to 4 pm. Where: Ferny Creek Horticultural Society, 100 Hilton Rd, Ferny Creek. Mel: 75 D1.
Come and find those unusual Salvias you’ve been looking for. A great variety of Salvias available. Come early to get those bargains. Bring your lists; but even better, email me your lists so you don’t miss out. Your plants will be put aside and waiting for you. Salvia books and seeds will be on sale. There is a $5.00 entry fee (Children U14 free).
4. PAT ANDERSON’S GARDEN VISIT
When: Sunday, 18th March at 11 am. Where: 98 Bradley’s Lane, Warrandyte. Mel: 23 C11.
Join us wandering around a magnificent Salvia Garden – everything is labeled. So much more than just Salvias, native vegetation and a wonderful vegetable garden. Pat will be demonstrating and discussing the art of sowing Salvia seed. Bring a plate to share, a chair, a hat and bags for cuttings and seed. 5. THE GIPPSLAND RARE AND UNUSUAL PLANT FAIR (JINDIVICK RARE PLANT FAIR)
When: Saturday, 7th April from 10 am to 4 pm. Where: Jindivick Public Hall, Jacksons Track, Jindivick. Mel: Touring map 916 U6.
Salvia plants, books and seed will be on sale. Huge range of plants available, some new, some good time oldies, come and find that colour to suit the shrubs and plants in your garden. As well as the plant stalls there will be coffee, food and garden related products, including tools and sculptures. Jindivick has much to offer the visitor including 2 eateries, an antique shop and art gallery and the Jindivick Country Gardener Rare Plant Nursery.
